Scott James

Scott James is a veteran journalist and novelist. He’s the author of Trial by Fire: A Devastating Tragedy, 100 Lives Lost, and a 15-Year Search for Truth, which reopens the case of The Station Nightclub fire, one of America’s deadliest disasters. Trial by Fire won the top prize for nonfiction from the New England Society Book Awards and was adapted for television by the CBS News program “48 Hours.”  In his weekly eponymous San Francisco column for the New York Times, James’ stories drew national and international coverage. He’s been honored with three Emmy Awards for his work in television news. He's also the author of two bestselling novels, The Sower and SoMa, finalist for the national Lambda Literary Award for debut fiction, under the pen name Kemble Scott. James lives in San Francisco.
